Call For Nominations to the SOSNA Zoning Committee

The SOSNA Board of Directors is now soliciting nominations to serve a two-year term on the SOSNA Zoning Committee.  Five (5) seats on the nine (9) member Committee are up for appointment.  Nominate yourself, nominate a friend, nominate a neighbor.  Anyone who lives, owns property, or runs a business in our neighborhood (between South Street, Broad Street, Washington Avenue, and the Schuylkill River) can be nominated.  The SOSNA Board will be making the appointments at the January 28 Board of Directors meeting, and newly appointed members would begin serving at the February Zoning Committee meeting.

Deadline to Apply:  Wednesday December 31st at 5 PM.  Submit to abbyrambo AT southofsouth DOT org

Please submit a short (~ one page) letter explaining why you want to be involved on the committee, relevant experience in zoning/development, ideas and thoughts about the Committee and how it functions, and anything else you want to convey to the Board that might bolster your case for being appointed.  Resumes/CVs are optional.  Contact SOSNA staff with any questions - 215-732-8446

What does serving on the Zoning Committee entail and what is the commitment to serving?

The Committee meets the third Wednesday of every month at 7 PM.  Committee members are also engaged in online dialogue about on-going projects between meetings, and review all applications in advance of each month's meeting.  Lastly, the Committee meets on a quarterly basis to review its performance over the preceding months, and tweak any practices and protocols to better serve the community.

It's recommended that interested applicants attend or have attended meetings of the SOSNA Zoning Workgroup and the monthly Zoning Committee meetings (next meeting is December 17 at 7 PM).   The Board favorably weighs participation in Workgroup and monthly Committee meetings when deciding on new appointees.

Please join us in thanking Ann, Marisa, Murray, Charlie, and Michelle for their service over the past year and their dedication to the Zoning Committee, the organization and their neighborhood as a whole!
