Design Guidelines for Roof Setbacks
The Zoning Committee requests that applicants set roofdecks back from the front (or side) of a house so that it is it not visible from the opposite side of the street at the ground level.

Use this worksheet to calculate the required setback for your roof deck.


Use the formula below to determine the setback distance:  

Subtract half the sidewalk width from the width of the right of way (building to building distance) and mutiply this by four. Divide this result by the height of the building minus 5.5.

or: S = 4* (ROW-½SIDEWALK) / (H – 5.5)
