Neighborhood Ambassadors

Last summer these ambassadors walked the neighborhood picking up recyclable material, clearing storm drains, and collecting vital data.  They also signed people up for Recycling Rewards, documented Philly 311 Service Requests, gave out info on SEPTA and more!

The SOSNA Neighborhood Ambassador program was brand new in the summer of 2010, having been first conceived in the late-spring by the SOSNA Clean & Green committee.  The committee wanted to expand on existing efforts to educate and inform the community about proper trash/recycling procedures in its continued push for a litter free neighborhood.

All four Ambassadors were high school students and were hired in partnership with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Philadelphia, and the Philadelphia Youth Network, through WorkReady Philadelphia, a program that provides students with summer jobs and career training.

A big thanks from SOSNA to these young citizens who helped us out last summer!
